Edelweiss Talent Show
"Edelweiss" brings talented children from the protection system in the limelight
Edelweiss is an annual event aimed at giving children in state care the opportunity to express their talent and creativity. The national event will take place in Bucharest on the 31 st May when a series of competitions (including music, arts, science, dance and sports) will take place. On the 1 st of June a big concert will be held in Sala Palatului concert hall (capacity: 4000) where the winners will have the opportunity to appear alongside well known Romanian bands such as Animal X, Hara, Sarmale Rece, Sistem and Hi Q. The event will be broadcast live on the main national TV channel (TVR1)
The Edelweiss event is aimed at promoting the talent and skills of children in state care (in child protection institutions as well as foster families), and is in its third year. The event is funded by the European Union Phare programme and the National Authority for the Protection of Child Rights.
The winners of the nine competitions will receive scholarships from between 1 and 3 years as well as a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels . The competitions were organized by the county offices of Social Assistance and Child Protection.
